Edgewater, Florida-based Viking Aircraft Engines is working to fit into the market for small, experimental aircraft engines that Rotax has all but dominated for three decades. The company is at Sun ’n‘ Fun 2019 with examples of its full line, from a diminutive 90 hp (weighing just 150 pounds installed) to its 180 hp model, topping out at 260 pounds installed.
The engines are based on a Honda Fit automobile engine and are sized to fit in LSA and light experimental homebuilts. The company’s demo Zenith was on display with its 180T engine and a five-blade Duc Helices propeller.
