Russian airlines Aeroflot and UTair, along with leasing group Aviation Capital Services (ACS), have ordered 126 of Honeywell Aerospace’s avionics suites for various new aircraft that they have on order. In deals announced Monday on the opening day of Moscow’s Maks airshow, Aeroflot specified Honeywell equipment for 16 new Boeing 777s and ACS ordered 50 cockpit suites for 737NG aircraft that it will lease to Aeroflot. UTair has ordered Honeywell suites for 40 of its 737NGs and 20 new Airbus A321s. The cockpit packages chosen include IntuVue 3-D weather radar, enhanced ground proximity warning systems, traffic collision avoidance systems and flight data/cockpit voice recorders.


Separately, Russia’s Siberian Aeronautical Research Institute has agreed to re-engine the Antonov An-2 piston single biplane with Honeywell’s TPE331-12UAN turboprop. The deal is expected to see 300 of the new engines delivered, with deliveries to begin late this year. The new powerplant, based on the engines powering the Jetstream 32 and Metro 23, will deliver 1,100 shp.
