Tanis announced Wednesday at AirVenture that it had received FAA supplemental type certificate (STC) approval for installation of its engine pre-heating systems on all Lycoming and Continental four-cylinder engines.
Founded in 1974, Tanis provides pre-heating systems for piston and turbine aircraft including helicopters. Tanis has served the helicopter market since 1981 and recently announced that its products had been certified for the Bell 429 light twin and the AgustaWestland AW119. Tanis CEO Doug Evink said that Tanis is working on pre-heat systems for other aircraft but declined to name the manufacturers.
Evink used the occasion of the announcement to once again stress the benefits of pre-heating aircraft engines; increased safety, engine life, and reliability as well as shorter run-up times and, consequently, lower mission fuel burns.
