AgustaWestland’s AW169 took a step closer to entering service, with EASA approval of the helicopter’s Pratt & Whitney Canada PW210A turboshafts. AgustaWestland announced the twin-engine 4.5-ton AW169 in 2010 and anticipates certification shortly. The manufacturer says it has received orders for more than 120 copies of the helicopter, the latest of which is the sale of a single AW169 to Italian operator HoverFly for delivery in the middle of next year. Approved by Transport Canada in July, the PW210A is a derivative of the PW210S, which powers the Sikorsky S-76D.
