A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Embraer has logged its most successful first quarter in company history, the Brazilian airframer announced this morning during an earnings call. Overall, the manufacturer saw 31% year-over-year growth, posting revenues of $1.4 billion.
Revenues for the executive jet division—which accounts for approximately 20% of the company’s overall revenues—increased by 30% year over year, to $418 million, for the quarter. That momentumwas evidenced by a 26% increase over its&nbsp;first-quarter 2025 deliveries.
The OEM’s 29 executive jet deliveries, which included 16 light jets (one Phenom 100 and 15 Phenom 300s) and 13 mid- and super-midsize jets (nine Praetor 500s and four Praetor 600s), represented an increase of six aircraft over its first-quarter 2025 total.
Embraer’s private jet backlog remained unchanged from last year, with the division maintaining $7.6 billion in firm orders. The manufacturer has forecast between 160 and 170 business jet deliveries for this year, with its first-quarter deliveries totaling 18% of the midpoint of that prediction.
The record first-quarter deliveries represent a 12% increase over its first-quarter delivery average for the past five years, proof that the company’s production leveling strategy is taking hold. “We continue to see tangible progress in production, leveling, and greater stability across our assembly lines,” said company president and CEO Francisco Gomes Neto. “We don’t see any risk for us for our guidance this year in terms of production and deliveries.”
Next year, Embraer expects to level its deliveries between the first and second halves of the year, according to Neto. “We have been investing in expanding our sites in Brazil, Portugal, and the United States over the past two years, and also optimizing the utilization of our assets, producing more aircraft in the same area,” he explained. “In parallel, we have been working very closely with our key suppliers to make sure that they supply the parts we need to support our growth.” As a result of its increasing production tempo, Embraer expects to reach the plateau of 200 executive jets delivered by the end of the decade.
When asked about the impact of tariffs imposed by the U.S., Felipe Santana, the company’s recently promoted executive v-p of finance and investor relations, stated, “It has impacted our costs, but we do think that we have a superior product in the industry versus our competition, and even with the price adjustments that we have taken, it remains very competitive, and I think the book to build sales that we posted last year above 1.0 is very solid.” He added, “We continue to have the longest queue of customers in the industry, and [based on current backlog] we’ll be selling our products now into 2029.”
