Aerospace Concepts LLC of St. Laurent, Quebec, comes to NBAA 2006 to introduce new lightweight sound-proofing materials, along with its advanced interior design capabilities. The company has recently completed interior projects on its 55th wide-cabin business jet.

ACL and its partner, Aviation International Management Services (AIMS), have developed an installation package for business jets that reduces cabin noise up to 8 dBs, using a new fireproof and lightweight sound-proofing material. Its Superior Sound Proofing package is designed to reduce noise levels in midsize business jets like the Challenger 300 from 2 to 8 dB, and in wide-cabin jets like the Global Express from 3 to 6 dB. Typically, a 10-dB reduction in sound levels will cut noise in half.

The package has already been installed in a Global Express, and recently received Transport Canada and FAA approval. A supplemental type certificate is being developed in conjunction with Delaware-based AIMS, which is supplying the material, and approval is expected by year-end. The material exceeds the current FAR 25.853 flammability requirements.

Kevin Hoffman, ACL president and CEO, said, “We will market a much safer and quieter material and for less cost than what the OEM’s can offer.” Installed without hardware, the multi-layer material can be purchased as a partial kit to be installed on an already completed aircraft, or a full kit which will replace and add to the OEM-installed insulation blankets during the installation or refurbishment of an aircraft interior.

On the interior design side, ACL has added computer-aided design (CAD) systems similar to those used by original equipment manufacturers. According to Hoffman, the new capabilities will cut interior design development time drastically. “When going through the OEM, the waiting period is weeks before an idea can be visually presented,” explained Hoffman. “By doing it in-house we can provide a response to customer requests within days.” ACL can now provide customers with three-dimensional renderings of aircraft interiors based on their custom configurations.

With completion figures approximately two thirds more than any other company, ACL recently completed its 55th wide-cabin business jet–among those are the Global Express (its 40th such completion), the Challenger 604 and 300, Gulfstream IV and V, along with its first Boeing Business Jet. It counts the completion of more than one third of the world’s in-service fleet of Global Express aircraft to its credit.
