AEA Incentivizing ADS-B Equipage with $1,000 Awards
AEA will present $1,000 awards to five aircraft owners as it eyes the Jan. 1, 2020 deadline.

With 41 months left before the ADS-B deadline, the Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) once again is awarding five aircraft owners $1,000 during EAA AirVenture as an incentive to equip. The $1,000 must be used toward an ADS-B-compliant upgrade that is accomplished at an AEA-member avionics repair station and has been scheduled by Aug. 1, 2017.

This is the third consecutive year that AEA has provided the $1,000 awards as it eyes the ADS-B deadline. “Aircraft owners who wait to equip will face scheduling pressure and likely higher installation costs as we get closer to the Jan. 1, 2020, deadline. By awarding $1,000 to five different aircraft owners to help them become compliant sooner rather than later, the AEA hopes to send a message to owners of general aviation aircraft that the time to act and upgrade is now," said AEA president Paula Derks.

Aircraft owners may submit an entry for the $1,000 award at Hangar B, Booth No. 2035/2036, beginning July 25. Winners will be announced daily at the booth, as well as via AEA’s social media outlets on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
