Plates on Maps Added to FltPlan Go for Android
FltPlan.com has added a number of new features to its FltPlan Go for Android moving-map app.
FltPlan Go for Android's newest feature is approach plates on maps.

FltPlan.com continues to add new features to the Android version of its free FltPlan Go moving-map app, with the latest the ability to place approach plates on maps. Transparency of approach plates and weather, Metars and winds is adjustable so users can easily view base map features. “This feature enhances situational awareness when transitioning from the en route phase to the approach phase of your flight,” according to FltPlan.com.

The company previously updated FltPlan Go for Android with an external tab for quick access to connections to portable ADS-B IN receivers and installed ADS-B IN avionics; a customizable aircraft icon, which can be a single-engine prop, jet or helicopter in eight different colors; and a runway-length filter for the "Airports Nearby Me" feature.

Also recently added was a split-screen option in the maps section, allowing screen splitting with the tablet in vertical or horizontal orientation. The split screen can display a map on one side and features such as airports, departure airport procedures, arrival airports procedures, navlogs, weather, scratchpad and tools on the other side. For pilots flying in Canada, FltPlan Go for Android has added more than 6,000 instrument approach fixes and runway centerlines.

Additions to avionics compatible with FltPlan Go for Android include the Avidyne IFD540/440, L-3 Lynx NGT-9000 and Dynon SV-D100T.
