Bombardier Finishes First Nose-to-Tail Service at Biggin Hill
Since its inauguration in May, the London-area service center has supported more than 40 maintenance events.

Bombardier has completed a nose-to-tail service package at its London Biggin Hill service center, the first at the facility since it began operations in May. The extensive project on a Global 6000 included the industry’s first Ka-band high-speed Internet installation with a Rockwell Collins airborne data router (ADR) retrofit.

Bombardier’s Ka-band solution is offered as an option on new Challenger 650s and Globals, or as a retrofit on all Globals and 600-series Challengers via the worldwide service center network.

The London-area facility—which carries authorizations from civil aviation authorities from the U.S., UK and UAE—can provide heavy maintenance and support to the more than 600 Bombardier business jets in Europe. Since its inauguration, it has supported more than 40 maintenance events, including a simultaneous 96-month inspection and Collins Pro Line 21 integrated avionics system installation on a Challenger 605.

“This milestone is a testament to the skill and expertise of Bombardier’s London Biggin Hill team, and to our worldwide service center network that supported the maintenance,” said Jean-Christophe Gallagher, the airframer’s vice president and general manager for customer experience. “We are thrilled to deliver this level of service to our customers so soon after opening our hangar doors in London.”
