Jet Aviation Earns EASA STC on Honeywell Monitor Upgrade
The approval covers replacement of the DU-870 CRT unit with the form-fit DU-875 LCD on older Falcons and Cessnas.
Operators of older aircraft can upgrade their aging Honeywell CRT displays to the new DU-875 LCD versions, either all-at-once, or one-at-a-time, depending on which is more convenient to their schedule and budget. They can get a trade-in credit for each unit they switch by the end of 2017.

Jet Aviation has partnered with Honeywell to develop an STC that will allow operators to replace the cathode ray tube (CRT) displays in their older Dassault Falcons and Cessna Citations.

“Jet Aviation has completed an EASA supplemental type certificate for this off-the-shelf, certified solution that provides the latest, modern LCD aircraft avionics,” said Samuel Nemoz, manager of direct sales for Jet Aviation in Basel. “Installing the Honeywell Primus Elite DU-875 display upgrade extends the life of owners’ current aircraft while upgrading their avionics suite, improving reliability and enabling future growth and additional features.”

The CRT units face obsolescence as Honeywell has announced it is phasing out its service program for them. That will require owners to replace them with LCD units if they plan to sell the aircraft on the open market.

According to Honeywell, the DU-875 is a form-fit upgrade option that can be installed quickly and easily in the DU-870 tray without any wiring changes. The LCD units also permit replacement of flight-deck displays one at a time or simultaneously, depending on whether the customer priortizes speed or reduced downtime, Jet Aviation said. Customers can receive a trade-in credit for each DU-870 unit replaced with a DU-875 unit before year-end.
