Aspen Gets FAA OK for Evolution with Garmin Transponder
The integration will clear enable access to weather and traffic information on the Aspen displays.

Aspen Avionics received a supplemental type certificate (STC) to interface its Evolution primary and multifunction displays with the Garmin GTX 345 all-in-one transponder. The integration of Garmin transponder with the Evolution displays will enable pilots to view ADS-B weather and traffic information in their line of sight.

Noting that certification came on schedule, Mark Ferrari, v-p of sales and customer support at Aspen, said, “This is especially timely when ADS-B compliance is top-of-mind for aircraft owners looking for more options that provide value-added weather and advanced traffic information at a price that is affordable.”

The integration will provide access to dual-band ADS-B IN traffic and subscription-free weather on Aspen Avionics’ primary flight and multifunction displays and combines mode-S extended squitter transponder and optional WAAS/GPS position source. It also complies with 1090 MHz ADS-B OUT requirements.

The integration can be accomplished at any Aspen Avionics authorized dealer and costs $795.
