Sandel Avionics has selected Greenwich AeroGroup’s Western Aircraft as a member of the Certified Avilon Dealer network for installation of Sandel’s Avilon integrated flight deck in Beechcraft Kings Airs. Sandel introduced the Avilon flight deck at the NBAA Convention in November and is currently busy flight testing the system and preparing for FAA certification.

The Avilon flight deck is priced at a guaranteed fly-away price of $175,000 installed, and it breaks the mold of traditional avionics by presenting pilots with clearly depicted path-based guidance in both the vertical and lateral axes. The Avilon upgrade should reduce weight by 100 to 150 pounds.

“We are excited to be a new dealer for Sandel’s Avilon flight deck,” said Western Aircraft vice president and general manager Austin Shontz. “We believe its advanced design and safety features will be very attractive to King Air owners and operators who are looking for an affordable way to modernize their flight deck and be equipped for NextGen capabilities and requirements.”

The first Avilon STC is due this year and will be for the King Air 200. The other King Air models will follow, as well as the Beech 1900.
