iCloth Avionics is offering its screen display cleaning wipes, used by the airline and military markets for the past decade, to general and business aircraft operators. The individually wrapped and pre-moistened wipes safely clean fingerprints and other grime from flight-deck displays and electronic flight bags, the company said, adding they can also be used on cabin management system displays.
“We were approached with a problem plaguing pilots—dirt, smudges and fingerprints on flight deck displays and the growing popularity of tablets as a flight navigation tool—with no safe, convenient way to clean them. Our focus had always been on optical clarity of sensitive surfaces,” said iCloth CEO Peter Hartlen. “So we adjusted and improved our product specifically for this need.”
Made of aerospace-grade DuPont Sontara spun-laced nonwoven fabric, each individually packaged iCloth contains a purified water and isopropyl alcohol solution to cut fingerprints, grease and smears, drying streak-free. The iCloth wipes meet or exceed requirements set by Boeing, Bombardier, Cessna and CMC Esterline Electronics, as well as the U.S. Air Force and Navy and several airlines. To date, the aerospace industry has bought more than 10 million of the wipes.
