Lufthansa Technical Training Signs Five-year Deal
Graduates qualify for EASA engineer certification.

APFT Maintenance Training aviation school and Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT) have signed a contract for the training of aviation technicians in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The program begins in January, and the companies estimate that in five years they will train 400 students from APFT as EASA-qualified aircraft mechanics.

Dato Faruk Othmann, director of APFT, said, “APFT, through its flight school Asia Pacific Flight Training, has been conducting pilot training and is now expanding into engineering training through its maintenance training school. We believe that this agreement will benefit not only the students but the aviation industry in the region as well.”

Beginning next year, training staff from Lufthansa Technical Training Philippines (LTTP) will conduct lessons in theory and practice with the EASA-approved LTT instructional materials, administer and evaluate exams and issue the certificates. Training takes place at the APFT Maintenance Training facility.

After successful completion of the training, graduates can apply with the European Aviation Safety Agency, or one of the national authorities, for an EASA CAT A 1.1 license after logging three years of on-the-job training.
