The Jet Aviation Sorocaba FBO and maintenance facility has been rebranded as Gulfstream Brazil. Both companies are owned by General Dynamics. The 20 employees, including nine maintenance or avionics technicians, will remain in place. The Sorocaba facility  joins two more international service centers: Gulfstream Luton, north of London; and Gulfstream Beijing, scheduled to begin operations later this year. “The Sorocaba facility has grown into a full-fledged service center capable of heavy maintenance work such as airframe inspections and engine changes,” said Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream product support. Previously the facility offered hangarage, ground handling, exterior and interior cleaning, refueling and light maintenance. The rebranding and upgrade in the facility’s capability reflects the OEM’s growing presence in the Latin American market. “The Gulfstream fleet in Latin America is approximately 150 of the more than 2,000 aircraft worldwide and continues to grow. The fleet includes more than 25 G200s and more than 70 aircraft in the GIV or GV series. More than half of the Latin American Gulfstream fleet is based in Mexico and Brazil,” Burns told AIN.
