ForeFlight released version 4.4 of its flight-planning app for the iPad, which includes a new documents feature that allows pilots to import, maintain and access libraries of reference materials, aircraft manuals, regulatory documents and many other products in PDF, TIFF, PNG, JPG and GIF file formats. Documents can be organized into binders, for example, by tail number or functions, such as training or regulatory.
ForeFlight Mobile 4.4 users can import documents via iTunes or by emailing a document to themselves. Catalogs of documents are also available from ForeFlight, including free publications such as the Aeronautical Information Manual, chart guides, Airport/Facility Directory supplements, Nav Canada products and the ForeFlight user guide.
ForeFlight keeps the documents in the catalogs current, and new versions are automatically downloaded during database updates. For flight departments, ForeFlight can help set up distribution systems for iPad-carrying pilots, and for OEMs it can deliver flight and maintenance/parts manuals.
The software provider also recently announced the ForeFlight Manage system, which allows flight-department customers to access account information online. Users can add and remove pilots, manage iOS devices, review purchases and add account features.
