Loss of Bombardier's Product Support Chief Leaves Void
James Hoblyn, who has been behind Bombardier Aerospace’s recent push to bolster its worldwide business aircraft product support, died while running on Sund

James Hoblyn, who has been behind Bombardier Aerospace’s recent push to bolster its worldwide business aircraft product support, died while running on Sunday. He was 46. In April 2008, Hoblyn was appointed as the aircraft manufacturer’s president of customer services and specialized and amphibious aircraft, where he oversaw aftermarket services for Bombardier’s business and commercial aircraft customers, including field and technical support, parts, maintenance services and pilot training. He was also responsible for specialized and amphibious aircraft. Hoblyn’s stamp on the product services division was becoming more visible recently, with a flurry of announcements about increases in business aircraft after-market support in Europe, the Middle East, Russia, Asia and Africa–including more staff, additional maintenance facilities, expanded mobile repair teams and a new Hong Kong parts depot–made since the beginning of this year. “James’s leadership and enthusiasm in supporting and driving improvements across our business and the broader Aerospace community will be greatly missed by all of us at Bombardier,” the company said in a statement. “Our team is deeply saddened by this tremendous loss and we will unwaveringly continue on the journey to reach the bold vision James spearheaded.” Hoblyn, who joined Bombardier in 1998, is survived by his wife and three daughters.
