Taj Air and Metrojet have entered into a joint venture to offer aircraft maintenance and management services in India. The operation will open in Mumbai at the current Taj Air facility, which will undergo renovation. A new facility is slated to be built. Taj Air has been involved in business aviation in the region since 1993.

Separately, Metrojet announced plans to develop a maintenance facility at Clark in the Philippines. “The space in our Hong Kong facility is limited and the infrastructure is overflowing. If we are going to expand we need to go outside Hong Kong to support the growing demand for business aviation in Asia. We believe Clark, with its close proximity to Hong Kong, will allow us to remain the leading business aviation company in Asia,” CEO Björn Näf told AIN.

According to Näf, plans for the new operation are at an advanced stage, with ground breaking expected within the next 60 days and completion by early next year. The 40,000-sq-ft facility will offer the same maintenance services as available at the Hong Kong facility. Näf said the MRO plans to expand its range of services to include avionics upgrades, interior refurbishment, and exterior paintwork for aircraft.

Metrojet is a certified repair station with approvals from the Hong Kong CAD and the FAA and is authorized to do maintenance on aircraft registered in China, Macau, Taiwan, Malaysia, Bermuda, Canada, the Isle of Man and the Cayman Islands. The MRO is an authorized Gulfstream warranty repair facility and an authorized Bombardier Aircraft service facility.
