Innovative Solutions & Support is almost finished with the development of an integrated flight management system for the Eclipse 500 very light jet. The new FMS will enable coupled LPV approaches, airway route navigation, RNP procedures, parallel offsets, user-defined waypoints and storage for up to 99 flight plans, among other features. The upgrade will be offered for installation in the fleet of 160 Eclipse 500s that have so far received IS&S’s AvioNG cockpit. Original Avidyne glass-panel cockpits are still installed in 100 Eclipse 500s, which must first be upgraded to the new avionics system before receiving the integrated FMS. IS&S said the upgrade will be available this month. It will also be standard on all Eclipse 500s completed to Total Eclipse functionality, the marketing name Eclipse Aerospace has given to fully upgraded jets available for purchase for $2.15 million a piece.
