Midcoast Aviation of East Cahokia, Ill., announced last week it will absorb the operations of sister company Savannah Air Center of Savannah, Ga., and expects the transition to be complete by year-end. Both Midcoast and Savannah Air Center provide aircraft interior completion and refurbishment and maintenance and overhaul. According to Midcoast president Donald Petersen, focus over the past couple of years has been on the upgrade and expansion of operations and facilities at St. Louis Downtown Airport. The Savannah operation consists of 175,000 sq ft of hangar and production space and some 360 employees. According to Midcoast, Savannah Air Center employees may apply for job openings at Midcoast, Jet Aviation or Gulfstream Aerospace, all of which are part of General Dynamics. A job fair is being planned for those who do not wish to make a move elsewhere within those GD-owned companies.
