Embraer has selected Honeywell’s Ovation Select cabin management system for the Brazilian OEM’s new mid-light Legacy 450 and midsize Legacy 500 business jets.

The choice was announced here Monday by both companies. No value was placed on the contract. The new Legacy programs were launched in 2008. The Legacy 500 is expected to enter service in the second half of 2012 and the Legacy 450 in the second half of 2013.

Among Ovation Select’s key features is a redesigned user interface that allows “seamless” in-flight connectivity via BlackBerry or laptop, using an iPod or watching a Blu-ray movie.

The modular, lightweight and flexible system delivers high-fidelity, surround-sound audio, high-definition (1080p) video and digital communication distribution throughout the cabin. Individual touch-screen control panels provide passengers with controls for the Blu-ray player, LCD monitor, 3-D moving map, lighting, temperature, cabin speakers and window shades. Included is a media dock for iPods, MP3 players, AppleTV and high-definition gaming systems.

The system’s media interface unit hosts the optional JetMap3 high-definition moving map application with real-time news, weather, sports and business updates.

Ovation Select was developed with industry partners Rosen Aviation for wide-screen high-definition display technology and Alto Aviation for high-end audio.
