Lufthansa Technik has signed a contract to do its first cabin completion on an executive version of the new Boeing 747-8. The four-engine airplane is scheduled to arrive at the company’s Hamburg, Germany completion center in early 2011 and will be delivered to the unidentified customer 18 months later. With the 747-8, a larger derivative of the 747-400, Lufthansa will find itself with considerably more floor space to work with–about 540 sq ft more, to be exact. To date, Lufthansa has done green cabin completion or major refurbishment work on about 15 twin-aisle, widebody aircraft.
