TAG Aviation, in a joint venture with European company SOKO, has opened a new business aviation handling facility at Torrejon Airport in Madrid. According to a company official in Europe, the new facility will focus on aircraft sales and management, charter, line-level maintenance, fueling, passenger handling and other line services.

A multilingual international flight support staff is in place with an eye toward catering to Central and South American visitors as well as European and U.S. operators, said the official. TAG’s international flight services include flight-planning and slot coordination, assistance with landing and overflight permits, weather briefings, acquisition of notams and assistance in acquiring visas. The new Spanish facility starts with a staff of 10, and the terminal building has offices for the perm-anent TAG staff as well as crew and passenger lounges. The international flight support staff is also prepared to provide preflight information, assistance with customs clearance and refueling, ground transportation and hotel reservations.

TAG currently has additional FBOs in Farnborough, UK (where it also operates the airport under lease) and Berlin, in addition to its headquarters in Geneva. In the U.S., TAG fields an extensive charter/management division. Representatives from TAG will be at the NBAA Convention in Orlando this month and will be able to provide more detailed information on the new facility in Madrid, said the official.
