The Salina (Kan.) Airport Authority, Chamber of Commerce, local government and residents are pro-airport, and the airport authority is focusing on developing a “business aviation service center concept” to attract more business jet services on the field, such as a completions center and paint facility. The airport, which has long billed itself as “America’s fuel stop,” is already home to FBO Flower Aviation (for which the authority is building a new facility, to be finished next month), America Jet (a full-service FBO, with charter and maintenance capabilities) and AS&T (a TKS anti-icing system installation facility). The community and local officials want more such businesses at the airport, and the authority is willing to build to spec for potential tenants. Also on the negotiating table are tax credits and other financial incentives.
