Atlantic Aero of Greensboro, N.C., expanded its FBO and maintenance/mod operation recently to include aircraft interior completion and refurbishment. With a “substantial” backlog, the company expects to open a 9,000-sq-ft shop on October 30 that will consolidate all the interiors disciplines, including cabinetry and upholstery. The new shop includes a 10-foot by 13-foot spray booth for piece work, and there are plans for an exterior paint shop that can accommodate aircraft as large as a Gulfstream IV. Brad Tolbard, hired in June to manage the aircraft interior division, said the shop is already doing “a tremendous amount of work with fractional operator Flexjet” and is negotiating for a number of green interior completion jobs. “We have 13 people working and we’re most definitely hiring,” said Tolbard.
