Gregory Polek has spent his entire career in aviation journalism with AIN, starting as a proofreader and assistant to then-managing editor Mary Mahoney in 1995 after serving an internship with&nbsp;New Jersey Monthly&nbsp;magazine and completing his B.A. degree in English/Writing at New Jersey’s William Paterson College. By 1997 Polek accepted a position as an associate editor, covering the regional airline beat for&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;in place of retiring industry veteran Don Anderson. The assignment took Polek across North America and Europe to profile regional airlines varying in size and mission from the likes of floatplane operators Kenmore Air and Chalk’s Ocean Airways to regional jet operators such as SkyWest and American Eagle. Today, in his dual role as Air Transport Editor and International Airshow Editor, Polek writes, edits, and manages AIN’s commercial aviation content while overseeing each of the company’s daily international air show publications in Paris, Farnborough, Singapore, and Dubai. Most recently Polek has assumed oversight of daily coverage of the Helicopter Association International’s annual Heli-Expo convention.

China Aviation Supplies Holding Company (CAS) signed contracts with Airbus yesterday covering the delivery of 102 aircraft, including a new firm order for 50 A320-series jets, six A330s and ten A350XWBs. The parties also confirmed an earlier order for 36 A330s, which had already found its way onto Airbus’s order books. An Airbus spokesperson told AIN that the manufacturer does not yet know delivery schedule details or even the identity of the airplanes’ ultimate operators. However, reports from China have identified China Eastern, China Southern and Air China as eventual recipients. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;
Li Hai, president of CAS, and Tom Enders, president and CEO of Airbus, signed the agreement at the Elysée Palace in Paris, in the presence of visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, UK Minister for Industry Mark Prisk and Louis Gallois, CEO of EADS. 
“We feel privileged that China continues to choose Airbus aircraft for the further development of its fleet. The order for Airbus’ eco-efficient aircraft underlines China’s ambition to grow sustainably,” said Enders. “We look forward to many more years of continued cooperation.”
