Saab Aircraft Leasing (SAL) recently delivered the first Saab 2000 to Omni Aviação e Tecnologia of Portugal. The 50-seat aircraft entered service February 29 on an aircraft crew and maintenance insurance (ACMI) contract between Omni and PGA Portugalia Airlines, connecting the Spanish city of Bilbao with Lisbon and Oporto in Portugal. Omni will operate the Saab 2000 under the brand name of Portugalia Express, together with its existing Beech 1900 operation.

Incorporated in Portugal in 1988, Omni has developed from a single-contract/single-client seasonal provider to a group of five companies. Its activities span fixed-wing and helicopter services, airline operations, maintenance, training, consulting and sales.
