Operators of aircraft equipped with the Honeywell Primus Epic and Primus Apex avionics suites now have fewer thumb drives to worry about, thanks to a new cloud-based navigation chart update service. Developed in partnership with Englewood, Colo.-based chart provider Jeppesen, the Integrated Navigation Data Service (INDS) Data Manager (IDM) for Windows speeds and simplifies the data delivery and downloading process and reduces the possibility of update errors.
“Honeywell develops some of the industry’s most advanced flight decks for business aircraft, and the new IDM solution will provide a similar level of service for delivery of critical flight data,” said Steve Kersh, senior director of Aerospace Services for the Phoenix-based avionics developer.
Both companies note the subscription-based IDM tool provides instant access to chart serial numbers and is designed to support future wireless data loading capabilities. Data downloads may be paused and resumed as necessary.
“The IDM interface for Windows is intuitive. With a secure network the application provides pilots and flight departments with quick access to critical data updates anywhere in the world,” added Mike Abbott, Jeppesen’s navigation and flight deck programs director.
