<p>The UK DOT has proposed changes to air navigation directions and air navigation guidance policies to support the nation's ongoing airspace modernization program. These materials are statutory documents issued to the Civil Aviation Authority to inform it how to carry out its air navigation function. They were last updated in 2023 and 2017, respectively. The proposed revisions include: providing clear priorities for the design of airspace, including the altitude at which noise and carbon emissions reductions are prioritized; implementing new time limits on the call-in process; updating guidance on the engagement and consultation process; removing the need for environmental assessments for unmanned aerial systems trials; and improving the overall usability of the information. Comments are due by Jan. 20, 2026.</p>
