Embraer made the first flight of its KC-390 military airlifter on February 3rd. The crew of four flew the new twinjet for 1 hour and 25 minutes to evaluate flying properties and performance. The KC-390 offers a high cruise speed of 470 knots and a cruising altitude of 36,000 feet. The wide-fuselage cabin can carry up to 80 troops or a mix of up to 7 cargo pallets, 3 Humvee vehicles and an attack helicopter. Maximum payload is just over 23 metric tons.
