WomenVenture Celebrates 10th Anniversary at AirVenture
The organization will host various events throughout the week that focuses on empowering women in aviation.

WomenVenture, the partnership between EAA and Women in Aviation International (WAI), is celebrating its 10th anniversary at AirVenture 2017. While the organization will hold events throughout the airshow, it is introducing a new event called WomenVenture Social. Attendees can go to Forum Building 9 on July 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. to network and meet other women in aviation.

“We are grateful to EAA for their commitment to AirVenture for 10 consecutive years and thank them for the many opportunities women now have to make AirVenture that much more meaningful to them personally,” said WAI president Dr. Peggy Chabrian. “WomenVenture 2017 will be a fabulous week!”

WomenVenture will host events at AirVenture starting Wednesday, July 26. The first event is WAI’s Connect Breakfast, which will be held at the EAA Nature Center at 8 a.m. The event features guest speakers the Vintage Aircraft Association president Susan Dusenbury and EAA Warbirds of America president Connie Bowlin. The annual WomenVenture group photo will take place in Boeing Plaza after the breakfast. Then there is the Power Lunch in Theater in the Woods with Dr. Janet Lapp, a motivational speaker who focuses on leadership through disruptive change.

The week ends with a showing of Hidden Figures on Friday, July 28 at 8:30 p.m. at the EAA Fly-In Theater. The 2016 film focuses on a team of female African-American mathematicians who served a vital role at NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program.

During AirVenture, Women in Aviation can be found in Booth 2041, Hangar B.
