FreeFlight Expands Its Supported Aircraft
The Texas-based avionics manufacturer received an FAA expansion of its AML STC for its RANGR line of ADS-B transceivers

Texas-based NextGen avionics supplier Freeflight Systems has received an approved model list (AML) supplemental type certificate (STC) expansion from the FAA for its RANGR line of ADS-B equipment for Part 23 aircraft. The expansion, which covers pressurized and composite aircraft, brings the total number of supported general aircraft makes and models to 780.

“We are pleased to expand our capabilities to make installation easier for our customers,” noted Pete Ring, the company’s director of sales and marketing. “Our expanded AML allows for a quicker turn time with the installation process for a wider variety of aircraft.”

The RANGR units are TSO-certified ADS-B solutions that automatically synchronize with legacy transponders without additional pilot interaction. Each of the systems, which operate on the 978 MHz datalink, is backed by the company’s standard five-year warranty. Customers who purchase one of the qualifying ADS-B units will receive a $500 rebate courtesy of the manufacturer’s bridge rebate program to allow them to take immediate advantage of NextGen benefits rather than wait for the FAA’s ADSB rebate program.

At this year's EAA AirVenture show, FreeFlight (Booth 3121A in the Epic Aircraft Exhibit Hangar) is once again offering its annual giveaway of one of its top-of-the-line RANGR FDL-978-XVR ADS-B universal access transceivers with built-in WAAS/GPS, necessary antennas, installation kit, control head and Wi-Fi module as well as $2,500 toward the cost of installation. Contestants may enter online or in person, as the winner need not be present at the July 29 drawing.
