Jeppesen’s newest iPad app, Mobile FliteDeck VFR, is now available for U.S. pilots flying in the continental U.S. The VFR version of Mobile FliteDeck is designed both for flight planning and in-flight navigation, with data-driven navigation information and access to Notams and text and graphical weather data.

Airport diagrams and area charts are displayed in one view, so pilots don’t have to toggle between views. Users can filter the display to eliminate clutter. The app includes enhanced symbols and “a simple intuitive design, which reduces overall pilot workload and increases situational awareness,” according to Jeppesen. Users can also easily access planned, actual and past flights, “providing simplified access to preferred flight data.”

Mobile FliteDeck VFR costs $49 per year for full U.S. VFR data subscription. The European version was introduced earlier this year.

Jeppesen also announced that it has partnered with Rockwell Collins to provide electronic charting data that will be securely and automatically transferred via Wi-Fi and cellular networks using Rockwell Collins’s Ascend Aircraft Information Manager system. The process works with Pro Line Fusion- and Pro Line 21-equipped aircraft and includes Jeppesen electronic charts and FMS navigation, performance, V-speed and checklist files.

Buyers of new Piper airplanes equipped with Garmin G1000 avionics now will receive a PilotPak bundle that includes Jeppesen NavData as well as supplemental databases for the Garmin system.
