Elbit Systems has been awarded a contract valued at some $20 million to supply Hermes 450 UAV systems to an unnamed European country. The order specifies both air vehicles and complementary ground systems, for delivery next year.\

Hermes 450 has been a major player in Israel’s security activities and serves as the Israel defense forces’ primary UAV system. It is also the basis for the UK armed forces’ Watchkeeper program, currently the largest in Europe. Hermes 450 UAVs are used extensively by armies worldwide, including in active war zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan. To date, the UAV has accumulated more than 100,000 operational flight hours.
