This month, Wilson Air Center celebrates its 30th anniversary—a milestone that reflects three decades of exceptional service and a commitment to redefining the FBO experience.
The Wilson Air Center story began in October 1996, when the flagship location opened at Memphis International Airport (KMEM). The vision was simple but groundbreaking: create an FBO where exceptional customer service and high-quality corporate aviation services go hand in hand. Locations in Houston, Texas (KHOU), and Chattanooga, Tennessee (KCHA), soon followed, expanding the same commitment to service and Southern hospitality.
The idea for Wilson Air Center was born from founder Robert “Bob” Wilson’s own experiences as a pilot. Having flown since the age of 16, Bob had encountered far too many FBOs where customer service seemed to be an afterthought. Drawing inspiration from his father’s successful Holiday Inn business, Bob brought the principles of hospitality into the aviation industry. He envisioned bright, clean, welcoming facilities that customers could count on no matter which Wilson Air Center location they visited, paired with personalized service that made every visit memorable. That vision quickly established Wilson Air Center as a favorite among pilots and aviation professionals alike.

Thirty years later, that same philosophy remains at the heart of the company and guides employees every day. Wilson Air Center continues to deliver the outstanding, memorable service its customers have come to expect while making thoughtful improvements as their needs evolve. Wilson Air Center has consistently earned recognition among the top FBOs in the United States with countless awards including WAC–Memphis being recognized as #1 FBO ten times over the years, WAC–Houston earning recognition several times for “Outstanding Line Service,” and “Above & Beyond” customer service, and WAC – Chattanooga voted #1 Best FBO in the U.S. for two consecutive years.

The commitment to improvement is evident at every location. Most recently, the Houston facility completed a significant terminal renovation, expanding from its original 1,750-square-foot space to an impressive 7,200 square feet. The newly renovated Houston lobby referred to as the “Corral” was designed to give customers a comfortable and welcoming place to relax while reflecting the high level of service that the Wilson Air Center–HOU team has provided for years.
While Wilson Air Center remains committed to serving the customer and making improvements to both facilities and service, they are also committed to treating the customer fairly with competitive pricing. All three locations are the CAA Preferred FBO on their field, helping to ensure that their customers will always enjoy award-winning service and comfortable amenities at a fair price.
After 30 years, Wilson Air Center’s commitment remains unchanged: provide exceptional aviation services, deliver genuine hospitality, and create an experience that customers remember long after their flight departs.
