A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Florida real estate developer Sebring Resorts announced plans to build a private aircraft hangar complex at Sebring Regional Airport (KSEF).&nbsp;Tied to the popular Sebring International Raceway, the hangar campus is part of a $200 million slate of six real estate projects in the area by the developer.
The company is now accepting pre-construction sales of the anticipated 14 private hangars, with pricing starting at $1.25 million for a 40-year lease.&nbsp;Customers can choose from either a 4,900-sq-ft or 8,100-sq-ft private hangar, the latter of which can accommodate a midsize jet. Each hurricane-rated hangar will include owner and guest parking, fire suppression systems, pre-wiring for fans, and plumbed office and bathroom installations, ready for completion.
To be known as Sebring Jet Center, the facility will be located adjacent to KSEF’s lone FBO, Sebring Flight Center, which will provide fueling and ground-handling services to hangar tenants. The company expects to break ground by year-end.
“Many of our Sebring Resort owners rely on air travel for their high-octane getaways. Offering state-of-the-art aircraft hangars completes the circle of convenience,” said Bill Klohn, the company’s broker and development partner, who told AIN that three of the hangars have already sold, with two more expected imminently. “The Sebring Jet Center delivers exceptional value compared to the high costs of hangar space at coastal airports.”
