Provo Air Center, one of three service providers at Turks and Caicos’ Providenciales International Airport (MBVP)—the Caribbean island nation’s primary gateway—has expanded its fueling and ground support operations to South Caicos International Airport (MBSC).

South Caicos had a history of salt production, which has largely tapered off, leaving fishing, diving, and secluded beaches as its primary draw. Air traffic to the island known as “the Big South” consists mainly of scheduled domestic flights, but that was boosted with the opening of a new luxury resort last month and the start of scheduled airline service from Miami.

As a result, Provo Air Center was asked to set up a formal fueling operation at MBSC, which offers a 6,000-foot runway and a brand-new terminal. It will also handle arrivals for private jets and their passengers. “Our presence on the island not only enhances private jet accessibility but also underscores our unwavering commitment to providing first-class service, flexibility, and convenience to our clientele,” said company CEO Deborah Aharon.

“For the past few decades there hasn't been much happening there, so as a locally owned company we're more than delighted to have this opportunity to bring back some prosperity and employment to 'the Big South',” Aharon told AIN. “There is not sufficient traffic to justify a full-blown FBO yet, but we are in the process of training staff over there to handle both [airline] and private jets with a hybrid FBO-like experience.”
