Southeast Aerospace (SEA) has teamed with Universal Avionics to offer the InSight integrated flight deck aboard Hawker 800-series jets. The upgrade includes a Mid-Continent MD 302 SAM as a replacement for existing electronic standby instruments, as well as optional full datacom capabilities that would meet the requirements of FANS-1/A and CPDLC.
Noting that 800-series Hawkers had four major flight deck variations during its production run that spanned some three decades, SEA said its program ultimately will provide an upgrade path for three of those suites. SEA anticipates supplemental type certificate approval in the second quarter for upgrading Hawker 800A, 800B, and 800XP that have the Collins 85/86 electronic flight instrument systems with FCS-80 or APS-85 autopilots. Another is underway that would cover Honeywell SPZ-8000-equipped Hawkers, SEA said, noting it is looking for a Hawker 800 with the SPZ flight deck as a candidate for this effort.
âBy upgrading with InSight, the flight crew can now take advantage of an intuitive human-machine interface with synthetic vision and advanced mapping capabilities, embedded electronic charts, radio control, and more,â said Marc Bouliane, v-p of business development, marketing, and services at Universal Avionics. He added the upgrade increases pilot situational awareness, reduces workload, and enables advanced maintenance capabilities with remote diagnostic capability.
