Kerry Lynch stepped into the role of editor of the&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;monthly magazine in May 2022 after serving with&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;for eight years. She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

Two major technical organizations, SAE International and ASM International, plan to combine their hallmark aerospace events, AeroTech and AeroMat, beginning in 2022, a move that will double the size of exhibit space and number of technical sessions available to attendees. The initial combined AeroTech and AeroMat conference is scheduled for March 15 to 17, 2022, in Pasadena, California, and will be offered for a single registration fee.

 


SAE International’s AeroTech event brings together experts from the commercial, military, general aviation, rotary-wing, and unmanned sectors to discuss all facets of aircraft development. This year’s event&nbsp;moved to a virtual format and was&nbsp;held June 2 and 3 with presentations scheduled from Magnix, Aerion Supersonic, and NASA, among others. The 2021 event is anticipated to be held in traditional face-to-face format March 9 to 11 in Orlando, Florida.

 


AeroMat, meanwhile, has featured technical information on aerospace industry materials and processes. The event has been held for more than 30 years, but for this year has been revised into AeroMat 2020 Virtual Session also held this week. The next full event is scheduled May 24 to 26, 2021, in Quebec City.

 


In the decision to co-locate the events beginning in 2022, ASM CEO Bill Mahoney said, “SAE and ASM will be responding to feedback from our industry supporters and innovating our own events that both work to promote innovation within the aerospace community.”
