The Greater Washington Business Aviation Association’s 2018 Golf Classic, to be held next week, will be used to help benefit the Corporate Angel Network (CAN) and the Aero Club of Washington Foundation. CAN arranges transportation for cancer patients to and from treatment. The Aero Club of Washington Foundation, meanwhile, has been working to introduce aviation to local youth.
Designed to promote the corporate aviation community in the greater Washington and Baltimore area, the golf tournament will be held September 13 at the 1757 Golf Club in Ashburn, Virginia. This is the 14th edition of the annual event, which is expected to draw 80 to 90 golfers. “It’s a great opportunity to bring together the corporate aviation community in our region for a fun day that supports some great causes,” Daniel Walker, golf chair for GWBAA.
The event will be preceded by a golf reception and summer social on September 12 at Matchbox One Loudon. This event is intended for a networking opportunity for aviation professionals throughout the region.
Along with preparing for one of its largest events of the year, the regional organization added two new members to its board: Jamie Wilson, senior associate with FBO Partners, and Scott White, regional sales manager for StandardAero.
Wilson has 20 years of business aviation experience in the region, beginning with Piedmont-Hawthorne Aviation and then as general manager at Landmark Aviation. White, the 2017 recipient of the NBAA Dr. Tony Kern Professionalism Award, has had a 34-year career in aircraft maintenance and sales and is an active member of the NBAA Maintenance Committee.
“Both of our newest board members have been active members of GWBAA, and we are fortunate to have their expertise and energy to help grow our association,” said GWBAA president Bob Blouin.
Along with additions to the board, GWBAA earlier this year had appointed Cheryl Goldsby its first executive director.
