Universal Aviation Italy recently completed the renovation of its ground support facilities at Rome Ciampino Airport (LIRA). The location has the largest footprint inside the airport’s general aviation terminal and is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time.

“Our priority for this renovation was to dedicate private spaces for crews and passengers, as well as the highest level of amenities and features,” said Universal Aviation Italy managing director Lorena Carraro. The VIP passenger lounge features “Italian style” colors and materials, and offers a view of the apron with Roman castles and Castel Gandolfo in the background. For crews, there is a snooze room, as well as a dedicated space for flight briefings.

“Rome is a business capital within Italy, and Ciampino is the only airport where general aviation is allowed to operate in the Rome area, so it is critical that we continue to invest in our FBO,” added Craig Middleton, Universal Aviation’s regional director of operations for Europe, Middle East, and Africa. “Strategically, Ciampino is important for us, as the airport sees significant traffic not only for business but for the many high-traffic events that take place within the region. Additionally, Rome remains an important seasonal destination, particularly in the winter and summer months.”

Universal Aviation Italy also has facilities at Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa, and Venice Marco Polo.
