Sierra Nevada’s 3S Engineering division is now offering an approved model list (AML) STC for the Send Solutions Airtext and Airtext+ Iridium text messaging systems in Pilatus PC-12s and Beechcraft King Airs. 3S Engineering developed the AML-STC using its Organization Designation Authorization.

The company is making the installation data package available to avionics shops, which can install the Airtext systems in their customers’ aircraft. 3S said it will add more aircraft models to the AML-STC “based on customer demand.”

Airtext and Airtext+ are Iridium-based airborne communications systems offering text messaging and voice calling via a smartphone app that connects the user to the airborne hardware. Text messaging costs five cents per message.

“The AML-STC allows Airtext customers and their selected aircraft modification centers to purchase an affordable solution that gives crewmembers and passengers the seamless connectivity they enjoy on the ground while avoiding the complexity and delays of seeking an FAA field approval,” said 3S Engineering general manager Randy Eno.
