U.S. Transportation secretary Elaine Chao has named seven government, aviation and business leaders to fill openings on the FAA’s Management Advisory Council (MAC), which advises FAA senior management on policy, spending, long-range planning and regulatory matters.
The latest appointees are Phillip Trenary, former CEO, Pinnacle Airlines; Brian Wynne, CEO, Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems International; William Ris, ex-senior v-p of government affairs, American Airlines; Donna McLean, former Transportation assistant secretary for budget and programs and CFO; Jeffrey Shane, former Transportation undersecretary for policy; Huntley Lawrence, director, aviation department, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; and Richard DeVos, Windquest Group president, former Amway CEO and founder of West Michigan Aviation Academy.
"These new members bring extensive experience and over a century of combined expertise in the operation, business and policy of aviation that will be invaluable to improving the FAA," said Secretary Chao. Among departing members they are replacing is Craig Fuller, the former AOPA president who had been the council's sole business/general aviation representative.
Remaining on the board are Jeffrey Rosen, Department of Transportation deputy secretary; Maj. Gen. (ret.) Rowayne Schatz, associate deputy chief of staff for operations, U.S. Air Force; Paul Rinaldi, National Air Traffic Controllers Association president; Steve Alterman, Cargo Airline Association president; John Potter, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority president and CEO; and Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX president and COO.
