Duncan Wraps First TFE731 Core Zone Inspection
The Lincoln, Nebraska MRO recently completed its first core zone inspection on a Honeywell TFE731 and is gearing up for more.

Duncan Aviation has completed its first in-house core zone inspection (CZI) on a Honeywell TFE731 at its turbine engine overhaul facility in Lincoln, Nebraska. “The CZI process is not new to us," Mike Bernholtz, the company’s turbine engine service sales representative, told AIN. “We have done hot section inspections and partnered with the OEM on arranging core inspections for decades.”

Following the successful test, the engine was rehung on a Learjet 45 operated by Jet Linx Omaha. “Because of our solid history of quality and craftsmanship, engines just don’t come back to us" to address additional maintenance or service issues after they are released back to the customer, Bernholtz added.

The company has embarked on its second TFE731 CZI, which is scheduled to deliver next month, and there are several more on the horizon over the coming months. Duncan is in the process of expanding its engine facility with a new test cell and control room. This is expected to be completed and operational by year-end.
