UK-Based Rigby Group has added to its XLR Executive Jet Centre brand with the acquisition of the Marshall Aerospace and Defense Group’s corporate aviation facilities at Birmingham Airport, located in England’s second most visited city after London.
In 2015, Marshall Aviation Services was awarded a 20-year lease to operate the former Euro Jet FBO, a glass-fronted 44,000-sq-ft facility with 27,000 sq ft of available heated hangar space for based and transient aircraft up to a Bombardier Global, as well as parking ramps.
XLR, part of Rigby’s aviation division that owns Exeter and Coventry Airports and operates FBOs at both locations, announced its intention to rapidly expand its UK operations earlier this year. “The establishment of a new XLR Jet Centre at Birmingham Airport marks a huge step forward in our plans for the company, placing its operations at the heart of one of the UK’s busiest and most accessible airports,” said group founder and chairman Sir Peter Rigby. “This opens up significant opportunities not only in domestic executive travel, but also in servicing the growing market across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.”
