The FAA has awarded Rockwell Collins STC approval for an upgrade to its Pro Line Fusion integrated cockpit for the Cessna Citation CJ3. According to the Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based avionics manufacturer, the upgrade provides compliance for looming NextGen ATC mandates, such as ADS-B equipage by 2020, with widescreen displays, synthetic vision and touchscreen navigation. So far, the company noted, more than 20 customers have signed on for the improvement package, the first of which has been completed by Duncan Aviation and is slated to fly this week.
“The clock is ticking to get aircraft equipped for airspace modernization deadlines, and this all-in-one alternative brings turnkey compliance for CJ3 operators with a modern interface and features found on new aircraft,” said Craig Olsen, Rockwell Collins’ vice president and general manager for business and regional systems.
The upgrade is available from Duncan’s three main MRO locations and at several of its satellite service facilities, as well as at all 12 of Textron Aviation’s company-owned service centers. Rockwell Collins is currently working to secure approval for the modification from Transport Canada, and it will then turn its attention to EASA certification.
