Lufthansa Technik has expanded its service support capabilities in the Americas with the opening of a new 21,000-sq-ft primary supply warehouse in Florida, joining similar facilities in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. The Fort Lauderdale location was selected for its access to North, Central and South America, and it will serve as the central gateway for the company’s customer supply network in the region. The facility, operated by Lufthansa Technik Component Services, will be in operation around the clock, allowing customers to interact with support personnel in their own time zone.
According to the Hamburg, Germany-based service provider, the new warehouse will be able to store approximately 9,000 components, as well as thousands of consumable and expendable items. Customer transactions will be streamlined thanks to Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services’ new computer–supported logistical order management system.
“This will enable us to manage and efficiently process future customer orders in line with individual customer requirements, even during peak dispatch periods,” said Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services project manager Christoph Corbelin.
