International business jet broker Freestream Aircraft is on pace for one of its most successful years, as it celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The company has completed more than 70 transactions valued at more than $1.4 billion so far this year. This activity, which boosts Freestream’s total transactions to more than 700 valued at more than $18 billion, came despite the uncertainties in global economies.
Merchant banker Alireza Ittihadieh founded Freestream Aircraft in 1991 in London, eyeing a global expansion of what historically had been a U.S.-centric business aviation market. He later opened an office in Teterboro, New Jersey, and brought Rebecca Posoli-Cilli on board to run that effort.
Freestream has since added locations in Bermuda and China, and is furthering its expansion with the recent opening of a new office in Miami. Based at Fontainebleau Aviation at Opa-locka Executive Airport, the new Miami office will increase the broker’s reach into the Southern U.S. and South American markets.
Freestream relocated two of its executives based in its Teterboro office to staff the new Miami base; Connie Marrero and Angelika Ayala. Marrero, who is executive v-p, has served with Freestream since 2007, and before that was with Avjet Corp. Ayala, a sales executive who handles large-cabin aircraft sales and acquisitions, joined Freestream in 2014 after serving as a sales and marketing executive for Fontainebleau.
