Lufthansa Technik To Prep BBJ 787 for Service Entry
Service Bulletin and Airworthiness Directive monitoring are among the engineering services for the bizliner.

Lufthansa Technik has been selected by an undisclosed customer to perform comprehensive cabin engineering services, as well as initial parts provisioning, for a Boeing BBJ 787-8 that's about to enter service. The engineering services consist of monitoring Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives, developing and tracking required maintenance-planning data; and adapting parts and components to the customer's specific needs.

This technical support agreement is a follow-on contract to a comprehensive cabin modification of this aircraft that Lufthansa Technik will begin soon. So far, the company supports more than 180 Boeing 787s from airline operators. The product portfolio comprises different types of maintenance, repair and overhaul services for commercial and VIP bizliners, including engineering, spare parts supply, modifications and completions.

"We are permanently extending our technical support for this aircraft type. The engineering and initial parts provisioning services mark another milestone in further strengthening our expertise on the 787," said Lufthansa Technik senior vice president VIP and special-mission aircraft services Walter Heerdt.
