StandardAero, with support from its in-house organization designation authorization (ODA) delegation, has obtained FAA STC approval for Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-140 engine upgrades on the Cessna Caravan 208B. The upgrade program includes the removing the P&WC PT6A-114/114A and installing a PT6A-140.
Installation of the newly STC'd upgrade provides a 28- to 45-percent increase in shaft horsepower by replacing the existing -114/114A engine. Other benefits to performance include reduced takeoff distance (ground roll of less than 1,200 feet) and up to a 40 percent improvement in the rate of climb (more than 1,200 fpm). These benefits will give operators enhanced safety margins for environmental factors, including flight in known icing conditions.
As a PT6A-designated distributor and overhaul facility, StandardAero can repair and upgrade the P&WC PT6A-114/114A-powered Cessna Caravan 208B. In addition, StandardAero can provide enhanced warranty offerings that exceed basic OEM warranty benefits on new engines, it said.
